The Spacelab at LISPA is the scenography department of the school, designed to introduce artists to the construction of dramatic spaces through plastic representation. From October 2010 onwards the Spacelab will be open not only to students on the full-time courses at LISPA , but also to outside students with a background in fine arts, architecture and design, who wish to deepen research within their own field of expertise on a part-time level.
This Summer Intensive allows an insight into the work of the Spacelab at LISPA through a dynamic approach to colours, emotions and passions. Participants will have the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the moving forces within human nature through the analysis of time, rhythm and space within different colours, linking the results to the plastic representation of emotions and passions. Students will work with simple materials like cardboard, clay, wood and paper, and use painting, drawing, sculpting and constructing as possible ways of expression. The work will allow students to apply different dynamics to the dramatic construction of a space, a sculpture, a costume or a set design - as well as to writing and directing. The course consists of construction periods in the atelier of the Spacelab in the afternoon, and movement and improvisation classes in the movement studios of the school during the morning sessions. It addresses directors, choreographers, writers and performing artists, as well as fine artists, designers, scenographers and architects. Minimum age for participants: 21
