Workshop Leader: Thomas Prattki, Founder and Director of LISPA

Since its foundation in 2003, LISPA has offered a two year full-time program in Creating Theatre and Performance.  The course is designed for students from around the world who are interested in creating their own work, whether as actors, dancers, performers, directors or writers for the stage. With students from over 20 different countries each year, the school is one of the most international training centres for devised theatre and performance worldwide, offering a place of research and encounter for artists interested in shaping the theatre of tomorrow.

This Summer Intensive offers an insight into some of the most fundamental principles of the teaching philosophy at LISPA, and focuses in particular on the poetic journey from the observation of life as we are able to see it, to the dramatic transposition of life as we are able to imagine it through artistic expression.  Through an approach to the elementary movements within nature, and through already existing art forms like painting and music, participants will gain a deeper understanding of the dynamic forces which are at the very core of our existence.  Students apply this knowledge to the content and form of their own artistic language. Going with or against those dynamic forces will give them the opportunity to create their very own work - finding a personal artistic form to link life and art, movement and emotion, and collective and personal experience.  The workshop addresses performing artists with an interest in creating their own work, possible applicants for the course in Creating Theatre and Performance at LISPA, as well as all others interested in dramatic creation. Minimum age for participants: 21
