Workshop Leader: Thomas Prattki, Founder and Director of LISPA
From the beginning of the 2009/2010 season, The London International School of Performing Arts (LISPA) is offering a new two year full-time program in Integral Theatre Pedagogy. This training is designed for students with a pedagogical interest in applying physical theatre, dramatic creation and body/leib awareness to the development of the individual human Self, within different educational contexts.
This Summer Intensive gives an introduction into some of the basic practical and theoretical principles of Integral Theatre Pedagogy as a method for artistic growth and personal individuation. It offers an approach to the collective images within the human psyche through an intense work with different types of dramatic masks. Masks are explored as a key to the development of a creative identity within the artist and the person. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of masks as transposed representations of different collective aspects within human nature, allowing the individual to experience what we all have in common, as well as ones’ own very personal response to the drama of life. Physical and improvisational work on stage will be supported by an intensive process of drawing and sculpting in the atelier of the school’s scenography department. The workshop suits participants with a background in dramatic creation, physical theatre or other performing arts interested in getting to know more about the Integral Theatre Pedagogy, as well as teachers, drama pedagogues, social workers, therapists and others with a background in dramatic creation, physical theatre and/or body work and a pedagogical interest in the individuation process. Minimum age for participants: 25
